about us                 2004 - 2014   10 years D G M

After the "1. International Workshop on Education in Mechatronics" organised by Bochum University of Applied Sciences in Bochum (Germany) on March 18 - 19, 1999 the German working group "Mechatronics" was founded. As a spin-off the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Mechatronik e.V" (DGM) or German Mechatronics Society was founded 2004 as registered non-profit society.

The DGM, then Mechatronik e.V., continues the work of that working group respectively "Arbeitskreis" giving it a more institutional frame. Since the late 1990ies members meet twice a year to exchange experiences in the field of mechatronics.

Currently we see some 60 mechatronics curricula at german universities giving the grades of Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) as well as Master of Engineering (MEng) und Master of Sciences (MSc). The graduates find excellent occupational outlook in industry and research.

To politically support universities involved in mechatronics 2007 DGM founded the "Fachbereichstag Mechatronik", the Society of (German) Mechatronics Faculties.

Also internationally DGM's voice is asked for, e.g. as (co-) organiser of the international Workshop REM, at awarding the "Mechatronics BestPaperAward" at the international PhD Workshop OWD or at EU sponsored projects, like e.g. the EU Tempus project DIMPTOT.
